Islet isolation facility - Oxford
Clean Room Construction was selected on a two-stage design and build open book basis to construct a new isolation facility for diabetes research at the University of Oxford.
The new facility was based within the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, one of the pioneers in establishing an effective partnership for clinical research and patient treatment in Oxford. The building houses research laboratories, in-patient ward and a clinic that sees more than 30,000 outpatients a year.
The islet isolation facility was designed to be used not only to isolate human islets for transplantation but also to provide researchers in Oxford with human islets for basic research on the causes of diabetes and islet function.
CRC successfully completed the project to meet the demanding MHRA licensing requirements with EC GMP Grade B aseptic handling areas and Grade C preparation areas.
Contract Value: Circa £650,000
