Atomic layer deposition (ALD) cleanroom and laboratories
Clean Room Construction (CRC) designed and built an atomic layer deposition cleanroom facility and two optics labs within a busy teaching and learning environment for King's College London.
The project involved working at basement level while the university continued to function.
The facilities incorporated modular partition walls, plasterboard walls finished with acrylic eggshell paint, lay in grid ceiling and tiles, frame and powder-coated metal doors and anti-static vinyl floor finish, coved at walls.
The cleanrooms are ISO Class 5 and 6 with temperature and humidity control.
The Optics labs utilise low velocity laminar flow to protect the sensitive scientific instrumentation and control the labs to 18+/-1℃ and 45+/-5% RH.
Process extraction has been provided for the client's process tools via roof-mounted extract fans and include abatement systems, prior to discharge to the atmosphere.
Mechanical services include desiccant dehumidifiers, chilled water pipework for the HVAC system, specialist gases and process cooling water for the client process tools as well as hot and cold water services and drainage. Electrical services comprise fire alarm and detection, small power, process power, access control, CCTV, data, lighting and gas detection.
The facility was completed with a range of furniture.
