We would always prefer to be involved in facility
concept and layout at the earliest stage possible as we can bring
valuable experience to the overall design-development process.
During design we will consider:
- Overall physical rooms and plant space
layout
- Method of structural support of the rooms
and plant
- Confirmation of required room environmental
parameters of room
- Confirmation of client process equipment
services
- Load estimation for the different services
systems
- Selection and layout of plant and systems
to produce the required environments
- Consideration of control philosophy
- Detailed sizing and features required
in each system
- Production of schematic system drawings
- Production of plant and equipment schedules
- Production of detailed installation
layout drawings
- Checking at each stage of design
CRC stands out from many cleanroom companies
since we have a very strong in-house design capability. CRCs
directors normally set the broad layout and design philosophy whilst
all CRC project engineers are qualified and experienced
for involvement in the design process.
Controlled Environments almost always have a
high density and complexity of services, particularly building services
including HVAC, electrical, piping, control and telemetry. All of
CRCs engineers have built their careers on a foundation
of building services engineering. Extensive use is made of CAD and
CAD drawing and building services software design and selection
packages.
Selection and application of cleanroom structures
and finishes is traditionally learnt by experience and CRC
has the significant experience of both traditional site-built and
contemporary pre-manufactured rapid-build structures. An example
is CRCs prefabricated CMP fast-track Cleanroom partition
and ceiling system, now used on the majority of projects.
CRC maintains links with experienced
and qualified associates, providing detailed design-input for steelwork,
architectural, civil and building work and high-purity process plant
and distribution systems. We have successfully completed numerous
projects with their involvement.
Most of CRC business is undertaken on
a design and build basis and even where an external consultants
design is provided by the client, we expect to retain a responsibility
for the successful operation of the design.
Naturally, we operate our core design
processes in accordance with all of the applicable
design codes and standards and these include:
- All applicable BSI and ISO standards
and codes of practice
- EN ISO 14644 cleanroom standard
- IES recommended practices
- HVCA specifications
- CIBSE technical design guides
- IEE Regulations
- ACDP recommendations
- ACGM recommendations
- CGMP recommendations
- CGLP recommendations
- ISPE/FDA Baseline Pharmaceutical engineering
guides
- Home Office Veterinary Codes of Practice
- BRE guides BCGA codes of practice
- BSRIA technical notes and application
guides
- DOE/PSA technical specifications
- HSC advisory publications
- The Building Regulations
