CRC's Responsibilities: CRC was employed as the main contractor on a full turnkey design and build basis. CRC’s responsibilities included all civil work, design and construction of the host buildings on a brown field site. CRC held full responsibility for the internal fit-out through to commissioning and handover.
Project Outline:
The project included modification to the site infrastructure services including gas,
water, electrics, data, public health and the associated civil work. A temporary freezer
was built and commissioned by CRC to house the BSE test samples whilst the new containment
laboratories were built via a fast track construction programme.
CRC was required to design and construct two independent containment laboratory buildings for
BSE research.
The internal fit-out to include all mechanical and electrical services, HVAC systems and
controls including specialist waste dust extraction, MBSC, safe change units, pathology stations
and fume cupboards.
The total developed area exceeded 1,760m².
